In Gaian, numbers follow a fairly similar format to the French system. As in France, the number system is fairly straight forward, there are no words for 70, 80 or 90, and because of this the use of 60+10 (soixante-dix), 4x20 for 80 (quatre-vingt) and 4x20+10 for 90 (quatre-vingt-dix) - this is the same case for Gaian.
Likewise with continental Europe, the Tellian standard of the Gaian language denotes decimal places with a "," symbol, so instead of having 3.14 as the value of pi to 2 decimal places, the number is denoted as 3,14. The pronunciation of decimals will be explained later on in this topic.
Other notes:
"s" appears at the end of a word, it is kept as a silent letter in the word and will not affect the pronunciation.
"h" is a silent pronounced letter.
This is a complete overhaul change in numbers from the previous Gaian numbering system.
Basic Numbers (0-10)
0: zèro
1: uno
2: duè
3: très
4: quatro
5: cinq
6: sei
7: septè
8: huito
9: novè
10: decci
More Basic Numbers 11-20
As with it's macroworld counterparts, Gaian shares the similarity with French and Italian that 17, 18 and 19 all have the structure of 10-7, 10-8 and 10-9. However, unlike Italian, the number format for numbers from 11-16 does not follow the Italian method based on the structure 1-10 (undici), but the opposite. This will be made clearer later. The 11-20 numbers are as follows:
11: decuno (decci + uno, notice the -ci has been omitted)
12: decuè (like 11, the -ci has been ommitted, but also the d from duè)
13: dectrè
14: decquattro
15: decinq (only one c)
16: decsei
17: decci-septo (note decci in full and è has been replaced by o at the end)
18: decci-huito
19: decci-novè
20: venti
21-30 - and further structure of numbers up to 69.
For numbers from 21-69, they share a similar structure to as shown in the example before. The numbers will effectively be the ten multiple + the single digit number, for example 25 would be effectively combining the words 20 and 5 (venti-cinq). The following examples are shown below using the numbers 21-29, with the words for 30, 40, 50 and 60 also listed.
21: venti è uno (notice the è - and in between the 20 and 1 - this is the same for 31, 41, 51 etc. - respectively trenta è uno, quaranta è uno, cinquanta è uno etc.)
22: venti-duè
23: venti-très
24: venti-quatro
25: venti-cinq
26: venti-sei
27: venti-septè
28: venti-huito
29: venti-novè
30: trenta
40: quaranta
50: cinquanta
60: seisanta
70, 80, 90's
As previously stated before, the numbers 70, 80 and 90 are slightly different in Gaian. Instead of having names for these values, instead we combine two former names for these values. In the case of 70, it is essentially 60-10, similar to the soixante-dix approach in French. This means for numbers in Gaian, the values 62, 63, 64 etc. are represented as 60-12, 60-13, 60-14 etc.
For the number 80, it's simply represented as 4 lots of 20, once again similar to French's quatre-vingt. With 90, the numbering is combining the concept used in 70 with the number 80, so for 90, it essentially reads 4-20-10 (as in 4x20 + 10)
The list of numbers is shown below:
70: seisanta-decci
71: seissanta-decuno
72: seissanta-decuè
73: seissanta-dectrès
74: seissanta-decquatro
75: seissanta-decinq
76: seissanta-decsei
77: seissanta-decsepto
78: seissanta-dechuito
79: seissanta-decnovè
80: quatro-venti
81: quatro-venti è uno
82: quatro-venti-duè
83: quatro-venti-très
84: quatro-venti-quatro
85: quatro-venti-cinq
86: quatro-venti-sei
87: quatro-venti-septè
88: quatro-venti-huito
89: quatro-venti-novè
90: quatro-venti-decci
91: quatro-venti-decuno
92: quatro-venti-decuè

94: quatro-venti-decquatro
95: quatro-venti-decinq
96: quatro-venti-decsei
97: quatro-venti-decsepto
98: quatro-venti-dechuito

Other Notable Numbers:
100: cento
101: cento è uno (or colloquially, centuno)
102: cento-duè
103: cento-très
104: cento-quatro
105: cento-cinq
110: cento-decci
150: cento-cinquata
170: cento-seissanta-decci
180: cento-quatro-venti
200: duècento
300: trèscento
400: quatrocento
500: cinqcento
600: seicento
700: septècento
800: huitocento
900: novècento
1000: mille
1000000: millionè
1000000000: billionè
1000000000000: trillionè
e.g - the year 2013 would be represented as "duèmille-dectrès". Years such as 1987, are slightly more complicated - in this case, mille-novècento-quatro-venti-septè.
Decimals:
When determining decimal places, Gaian uses the term "punto" or "dècimal". More commonly, "punto"
A few examples are shown below:
1.85 - uno punto quatro-venti-cinq OR uno dècimal quatro-venti-cinq
0.5 - zèro punto cinq OR you could also omit 0 and just say punto cinq
0.75 - punto seisanta-decinq OR zèro dècimal seisanta-decinq
3.14 - pi greco OR très punto decquatro OR très dècimal decquatro
